저희 선생님들은 친절하고 도움을 많이 주지만 또한 학생들이 학교에 있는 동안 영어를 배우도록 동기부여 하는 것에 게을리하지 않습니다. 이 사진에 있는 교실에 들어가면 오직 영어! 만 사용할 준비를 해야 합니다. 

복도에서 선생님과 학생이 편하게 이야기하고 있습니다. 저희 선생님들은 각 학생들을 하나하나 생각하고 항상 개인적인 지도와 도움을 제안합니다.

학생들은 온종일 앉아아 기계적으로 영어를 배우지 않습니다. 대부분 서서 활동하며 역할극을 준비하며 자신의 영어의 이해와 사용을 발전시킵니다. 짧은 연극을 위해 준비하고 있네요.

그리고 학생 배우들이 여기 보입니다. 옷을 입고 다가올 연극을 리허설 합니다. 노먼 글로벌의 학생들은 기본적으로 이러한 활동에 참가합니다.

저희 학생인 마리아는 학생들이 토플 시험을 준비하거나 영문법을 배울 때 저희가 학생들을 어떻게 잘 준비시키는지 알고 있습니다. 저희 학교는 늘 이런 학생들의 웃음으로 가득합니다!

Looking Around Nomen Global This Morning.

We took our camera this morning and walked around Nomen Global Language Center, in Provo, Utah, to see what we could see.  We found some interesting things going on.  We want to share them with you.  Enjoy!

Our instructors are friendly and helpful, but they are also dedicated to motivating students to learn English while they are in school.  When you enter this classroom, be prepared to speak ONLY ENGLISH!

An friendly student/teacher conference in the hallway between classes.  Our staff thinks of each student as an individual, and always offers individual help and guidance.

Students do not sit all day, learning English by rote.  They are up and active most of the time, role-playing and preparing for activities to enhance their understanding and use of the English language.  Here a class prepares to act in a brief play . . .

`And here are the student actors, dressed up and rehearsing for the upcoming performance.  Nomen Global students participate in these kinds of activities on a regular basis.

Our student Maria knows how well we prepare our students for success, whether they are preparing to take the TOEFL test or are learning English grammar.  Our school is always filled with smiles just like hers!

To learn English you must stay focused and disciplined, as well as have fun.  Our students spend four hours each day in classes such as this one, where they are trained by qualified and experienced teachers.

Isto é o exterior da escola. Oferecemos estacionamento gratuíto para o corpo docente e todos os estudantes. A escola fica do outro lado do Covey Center for the Arts, onde espetáculos ao vivo ocorrem quase toda noite. Cultura e entretenimento nunca faltam aqui em Provo!

Aqui é uma de nossas salas de aula. É importante para nós que os alunos tenham um lugar limpo e tranquilo para que possam comunicar e aprender de nossos professores qualificados! 

Aqui é a sala de computadores. Os alunos podem fazer provas de preparação para o TOEFL, GMAT e mais antes de fazer a prova real. Nossos professores têm anos de experiência trabalhando nesse ramo, e podem ajudá-los com qualquer dúvida ou pergunta.

Aqui é a area onde os alunos podem descansar, comer e bater um papo com amigos antes e depois das aulas. Temos uma microondas para que você não tenha que comer fora. Temos várias atividades muitas vezes por mês para nossos alunos.

Laser Assault 는 Laser Storm National Laser Tag Tournament를 2014년 8월 14일에서 17일까지 개최한다고 밝혔습니다. 전국 각지에서 올라온 팀들이 프로보에 모여 전국 최강을 가립니다. 이 토너먼트는 참가를 원하는 모든 5인 팀을 받습니다. 801-374-3400으로 전화해서 등록할 수 있습니다.  

Laser Assault는 지난 20년간 유타에서 가장 뛰어난 레이져 택 회사입니다. 생일파티와 데이트 미팅, 회사 파티, 교회 모임 등을 대행합니다. 

오픈 시간은 월-금 오후 3시부터 자정까지. 토요일은 오전 10시부터 자정까지 입니다.

Laser Assault is proud to announce that they will be hosting the 2014 Laser Storm National Laser Tag Tournament on August 14th – 17th, 2014.  Teams from around the country will be flying to Provo to compete for the National Title.  The tournament is open to any 5 man team that wants to join.  Teams can register by calling laser assault at 801-374-3400.

Laser Assault has been the number one laser tag center in Utah for the last 20 years.  They cater to birthday parties, date nights, company parties, church groups, and mobile parties.

Business hours are Monday – Friday 3:00 pm to Midnight and Saturday from 10:00 am to Midnight.

Here is the outside of our school.  We have free parking for students and visitors. We are located just across from the Covey Center for the Arts, where live performances take place almost every night.  You never lack for entertainment and culture while you stay in Provo!  

Here is one of our standard classrooms.  We make sure our ESL students have a quiet, clean and modern area for interaction with our qualified and experienced teachers.  We offer courses in TOEFL, GRE, LSAT, and GMAT, as well as business English, English grammar, and many elective courses in culture and literature.  We offer classes morning, afternoon, and evening.

Our state of the art computer lab.  Students can practice taking such online tests as TOEFL and GMAT before actually taking the real test.  Our testing staff have many years of experience in proctoring and helping students with their pre-test questions.

Our student lounge.  Here students can relax and socialize before and after classes.  We have a microwave so students can warm up their own meals, and do not have to eat out while at school.  We hold many school activities, both of an educational and of a social kind, in our student lounge.

Our modern lobby.  You will be greeted by our friendly administrative assistant Tina when you come in for class or for a tour of our school.  If you say "Hi, Tina!" to her, she always gives you a piece of candy!

Uma linda demonstração de Patriotismo

Queria partilhar uma experiência legal que vi na cidade onde moro e estudo, Provo.
Confesso que não sou a mais patriota dos EUA, mas realmente sou grata por morar num país que dá tanta liberdade, que é muito seguro, onde posso seguir meus sonhos e VIVE.

Esse fim de semana passado, comemoramos como um país o dia 4 de julho, ou seja, o Dia de Independência dos Estados Unidos. Quando morava no Texas, sempre tivemos churrasco com cachorro quente, hamburgers, melão e picolé das cores dos EUA--vermelho, azul e branco. Às vezes, a gente comprava fogos artificias para iluminar (nós mesmos! Que perigo!), e outras vezes eu andava de bicicleta com meu pai ou com amigos para subir um morro e assistir aos fogos.

Quando me mudei para Provo, vi uma tradição que nunca tinha visto antes: a parada que se chama The Freedom Festival. Pois já fui e vi paradas, claro, mas essa foi diferente. O pessoal da cidade começa a colocar cadeiras ao lado da rua (no centro da cidade) para guardar seus próprios lugares e assistir à parada às 8 horas de manhã o dia antes do festival. Tem feiras, várias atrações para famílias e crianças, fogos, bandeiras, música, comida--tem TUDO na rua. Os policias bloqueam a rua, então se quiser sair, tem que esperar até o dia depois da parada.

A parada começou às 9 de manha, e tinham milhares de pessoas. Foi muito lindo ver todo o patriotismo numa cidade tão pequena que nem Provo.

E, de acordo com esse artigo do Globo, a FIFA fez a decisão de não punir o colombiano, Carlos Eugênio Lopes que deu uma joelhada nas costas do Neymar.

Como o artigo aborda, é interessante que a FIFA deu uma multa muito grande para o Suárez, o uruguaiano que mordeu o rival...mas fez nada para punir esse colombiano?

O que vocês acham? Acham que a joelhada foi um acidente mesmo e que Lopes não merece estar fora da Copa também?

Para mim, essa é mais uma prova de favoritismo contra o Brasil... As decisões do juiz no jogo de Chile X Brasil foi um óbvio exemplo disso também.

             Reward yourself

After you take the exam, reward yourself for all of the time and effort you put into learning a second language! Treat yourself to a gift or a night out. No matter how  you did on the exam, you deserve a reward. Write down what your reward will be before you take the exam. It is always helpful to have something to look forward to.

시험을 치른후에 제 2 외국어를 배우느라 시간, 노력을 투자한 자신을 위해 무언가를 보답해 주자. 선물을 갖던지 아니면 밤에 나가 놀자. 시험을 어떻게 치뤘던지 여러분은 보상을 받을 만 하다. 시험을 보기전에 무엇을 보상할지 적어보자. 무언가를 예상해서 준비해 두는것은 늘 도움이 된다!

Expressões Idiomáticas: Beat Around the Bush

Oi pessoal!
Desculpa a demora em escrever mais um post para vocês.

Hoje, a expressão idiomática do dia é "beat around the bush". Essa frase é utilizada quando alguém quer evitar um assunto estranho ou um que pode ofender os outros. Por exemplo, vamos supor que sua melhor amiga engordou muito esse mês passado. Pelo menos aqui nos EUA, isso é um assunto que ninguém gosta de sobrar. Então, é melhor evitar de comentar algo pra ela, ou seja, beat around the bush. Também é muito comúm ouvir: "Stop beating around the bush", ou seja, Pare de tentar de evitar o que quero ouvir/ o que você tem pra falar!

Vamos ver um exemplo:

Mom: Hey son, I have something to tell you...
Son: What is it, Mom?
Mom: I don't know how you are going to react..
Son: What Mom?
Mom: Well it's kind of hard to say...
Son: Mom, just say it! Stop beating around the bush.
Mom: Okay. We're having a baby!

Mãe: Ô filho, tenho algo pra te contar...
Filho: O que é, Mãe?
Mãe: Não sei como é que vai reagir...
Filho: O quê?
Mãe: Pois é um pouco difícil...
